Usage Note 34308: PROC EXPORT converts numeric user-defined formats to SPSS value labels

If you are using PROC EXPORT to export a SAS data set to an SPSS system file, only the formats assigned to the numeric variables are converted to SPSS value labels.

If you are running SAS 9.2 TS2M3, both numeric and character formats are supported with the addition of the hot fix found on the Hot Fix tab in Problem Note 42772: Support for formats and value labels when reading and writing to SPSS (.sav) data sets
